# Where your data lives

> Your habits are stored on your phone and work offline. Nothing leaves it unless you use Premium backup or share a habit.

## On your phone

Your habits and check-ins are stored on your phone. BeHabit doesn’t need an account, and everything works offline.

## When anything leaves the phone

Only if you choose to:

- **Premium backup and sync** keeps a copy of your data in your account, so it can sync to your other devices and be restored. See [Back up, sync and restore](https://behabit.app/help/backup-and-restore).
- **Shared habits** share that habit’s name, icon, colour and check-ins, members’ display names, and any nudges or cheers, with the friends you invite.
- **Calendar sync** writes the events you ask for into the calendar you picked. The Planner also reads your events to show them on the timeline.
- **Purchases** go through the App Store or Google Play.
- **Crash reports** never include your habits. **Share anonymous usage** (in **Settings › Privacy & security**) sends a few anonymous events tied to a random install ID; turn it off any time.

Place reminders, Apple Health and Siri or Gemini all work on the phone: your location and Health data are never uploaded.

## Take it or erase it

- Export everything at any time: [Export and import your data](https://behabit.app/help/export-and-import).
- **Settings › Data & backup › Erase local data** deletes your habits and their history on this phone. Settings are kept, and a cloud backup isn’t affected.
