Build a habit or quit one
Build habits are ticked when you do them. Quit habits count the days you stay clean. How each works, including slips and urges.

Build habits
For things you want to do more: reading, walking, drinking water. You tick them off when they’re done, they follow the schedule you pick, and each one keeps a streak. Everything else in this help centre is about Build habits unless it says otherwise.
Quit habits
For things you want to do less. A Quit habit counts the days you stay clean.
- Quit habits are daily.
- Each day you stayed clean, tap the badge to mark Stayed clean today. It isn’t marked automatically.
- On the habit form you can note What triggers it?, What are you really after? and What will you do instead?, so the moment is easier to handle.
- Before quitting records how many you used to have per day.
Curious what staying clean saves you? The free quit habit savings calculator turns “how many a day” into days clean and money kept.
If you slip
Open the habit’s menu (long-press it on Today) and tap I slipped. It clears today’s mark only:
Noted. One slip is not a reset — tomorrow counts again.
Riding out an urge
On a Quit habit’s screen, Ride the urge walks you through it: rate the urge, breathe for 90 seconds, then rate it again. Urges usually peak and pass.
